"Birthing Clinic Road" was taken in December 2019 on a visit to a village birthing clinic near Jinga, Uganda. The rainy season was near an end. By the time we arrived at 10:30 AM, Clementina, the community midwife, had already delivered 5 babies . Her cement building has very limited facilities and only four rooms yet is quite functional. Clementina told us that she delivers approximately 100 babies a month. She has been serving her community in this capacity for nearly 40 years. There are no taxis, no cars, no busses, no ambulances. Pregnant women walk to Clementina's clinic to give birth.
Encouraged by photographers and visual artists I admire, I recently began to share my work with a broader audience. Over the last few decades, I practiced my photography while pursuing other passions, including as a humanitarian consultant, volunteer, nonfiction writer, investigator, and marketing strategist. The 2020 lockdown provided me the opportunity to bring this work to the forefront. Thank you for visiting my website. Please return in May to see more work.
